Our policy debate curriculum is designed for students brand new to competitive high school policy debate and/or policy debaters who have limited experience.

Lectures will focus on policy debate argumentation and theory as well as topic specific subjects. The 2016-2017 National Speech and Debate Association’s national policy debate topic will be used giving students who attend the camp a jump start on next year’s debate season.

Students will be provided with a “starter packet” of debate evidence at the beginning of camp to use in practice debates while at camp. In addition to having the starter packet evidence, students will learn about basic research skills and have the opportunity to work together to research and compile a file. Each student will participate in multiple fully-critiqued practice rounds.

Students will receive individualized attention from lab leaders that is appropriate to their skill and experience level. The faculty will utilize a small-group approach during many of the lab sessions in order to ensure that all students are getting the most out of their camp experience.
